Our Favorite Marinades

June 8, 2025

We will update this post each week as we try a series of marinades!

Summer has arrived here at Chappel Hill and while we grill pretty much year around, we grill A LOT in the summer.  Seems like the perfect time to try out some new marinades.  We will share our honest opinion on each but judge for yourself and let us know what you think.

We used cube steak for each of these but sirloin would also be great! Links below.

Cowboy BBQ Marinade:  Another hit!  Definitely the heartiest of the 3, this one clung more and made a sweet tangy BBQ coating on the cube steak.  We loved it!   I only used a 1/8 tsp of red pepper flakes and I would call that low\no heat - I think the sweetness of the ketchup offset it.  We will be making this one again and I will nudge the amount of flakes up a bit I think.  Also, I will dice my onions smaller for the next round.  👍🏼👍🏼for this one!  Find the recipe here:  ➡️ Cowboy BBQ Marinade

Tequila Marinade: We predicted this one would be good and it did not disappoint.  Made cube steak burritos and sprinkled just a bit of fajita seasoning on while browning. So good that the planned leftovers for lunch didn't happen.  Sirloin or cube steak would be perfect for this one as well - those links are below.  Link to marinade ➡️ Tequila Marinade

Garlic - Thyme marinade - perfect for leaner steaks, we tried it out on our cube steak.  Good marinade, not overpowering with just a hint of a kick from the red pepper.  Made an already tender cut even more so.  We recommend trying this one and adjusting the red pepper to your liking.  Link to the recipe ➡️ Garlic Thyme Marinade
